Baja Holiday Rentals
ActivitiesWindsurfing and kiting
People from all over the world travel to southern Baja to kite and windsurf. The windy season is from mid October thru April, with the most reliable wind being in December, January, February and March. The wind is side-on shore. Los Barriles can have huge rollers that challenges even the most experienced sailors. La Ventana/El Sargento area provides flatter water, less shore break and reliable winds - especially in the afternoon.
World Class - what more can we say! There are incredible charter boats, cruisers and pangas (open Mexican fishing boats), that leave from Los Barriles and La Paz. Charter pangas are also available in El Sargento.
An area called Cabo Pulmo is famous for its living reef. Cerrolvo Island is a destination for free diving and scuba diving. Snorkeling can be done close to land and produce experiences you will be talking about for years. Dive boat packages are available in Los Barriles, Cabo Pulmo and La Paz.
Part of the adventure is to find the beaches with the incredible shells on them. Makes for a fun day and treasures abound.
If you have never hiked in the desert, you are in for a real treat. The cactus and other plants are spectacular. Several times we have seen tranchulas in the pathway - they usually play dead when approached.
You can choose difficult grades to gentle strolls.
Like in hiking there are various levels of rides. It is a full-on mountain biking experience - even on the "paved" roads.
Some of the locals in Los Barriles are really good players and know where the good courts are. If you are a tennis buff, we can connect you.
There are places like the Cactus Sanctuary that are amazing. Just driving through the desert is a wonderful experience. We never get tired of seeing the cactus forest going from San Antonio to La Ventana. Just the drive to La Paz either from Los Barriles or La Ventana is beautiful.
Rancho LaVenta! You will be riding in the mountains in some of the most beautiful country you will ever see - on horseback. For those of you who don't want to ride, there are hiking trails for you. They have opened up some new trails and sometimes their organic garden is in full bloom. They offer a delicious lunch, also. They can connect you to a very reasonable taxi service who will wait for you. Rancho LaVenta is located at km.145. 10 miles north of San Bartolo. Contact them at email@example.com
La Ventana, Los Barriles, La Paz all have restaurants that you will miss when you go back home. The food here is great. We are fortunate to have enough Americans in the communities that the restaurants are careful about taking care of us. Many of them are owned by Americans. So eat your fill of great Mexican food, seafood and steaks. Oh, I almost forgot the great hamburgers - not like any hamburger you have eaten outside of Baja. Try at least one!
La Paz and San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas have shops that will thrill the most worldly shopper. If you make it close to Cabo San Lucas, Artesanos is a must.
Cabo San Lucas has many 5 star golf courses. Unfortunately, they come with 6 star prices. But if you have the time and the money, they are worth playing.
